Biography of
John Logan
John Logan received an Academy Award
nomination for his work on GLADIATOR, directed by Ridley
Scott. This Dreamworks/Universal production won the
2001 Best Picture Oscar. He also wrote ANY GIVEN SUNDAY
with director Oliver Stone. He received a WGA Award
and an Emmy nomination for RKO 281. This HBO film was
also awarded the Golden Globe for Best TV Movie or Ministries.
He also wrote the Dreamworks/Warner Bros. THE TIME MACHINE
and STAR TREK: NEMESIS.
THE LAST SAMURAI, directed by Ed Zwick
and starring Tom Cruise, will be released this year.
Logan is currently working on a pair
of film biographies: Abraham Lincoln for Steven Spielberg
and Howard Hughes for Martin Scorsese. He is also at
work on GLADIATOR II and a new stage adaptation of Ibsen's
THE MASTER BUILDER for London's West End.
His play NEVER THE SINNER received
the New York Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Play
and was published by Overlook Press. The play premiered
in Chicago in 1985 and opened on the West End in London
in 1990 at the Playhouse Theatre and has also been seen
in Australia, Canada, South Africa, Austria and on the
London Fringe. Other plays includes HAUPTMANN (Victory
Gardens Theater, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Edinburgh
and Australia); RIVERVIEW (Goodman Theatre, Chicago),
THE VIEW FROM GOLGOTHA (Australia) and SPEAKING IN TONGUES
(Washington D.C. and Vancouver).
John is a member of the Victory Gardens
Playwright Ensemble and lives in Evanston, Illinois.
