Aaron Carter
Aaron is the literary manager at Victory Gardens Theater. He is also a playwright. Originally from Ohio, his paternal grandfather was a black Baptist preacher and his maternal grandparents were white vaudeville performers. Their influence is seen in his work, which focuses on race, faith and obscure performance skills. His play PANTHER BURN was produced in October 2006 by MPAACT at Victory Gardens Greenhouse and nominated for the Black Theater Alliance’s Lorraine Hansberry Award. IOWA AKHBAR was workshopped as part of Leapfest 5 at Stage Left Theatre. SWAMP BABY will be produced this spring at Phase Three in Pittsburgh. Aaron is working on a play commissioned by Victory Gardens, made possible by a grant from the Wallace Foundation.
